Dave Chameides has been a Local 600 A Camera - Steadicam operator for the past 30-something years. He has won two Primetime Emmy Awards, received an SOC Operator of The Year nomination in 2014 for his work on the film St. Vincent, and won the SOC Operator of the Year Award in 2023 for his work on the TV show Ozark.
For many years Dave spent his time teaching students about their impact on the environment and how they can make a difference in the world. His seminar Chasing Sustainability has been heard around the world and a 2008 experiment to not throw anything "away" for a year gained him international recognition as an outspoken environmental educator.
His most recent project, The Op podcast and website, is designed to pass on what operators have learned to the next generation.
When not out walking one of there two fairly stupid dogs, he splits his time between Atlanta and Connecticut and is local to Atlanta as an operator.
