STEADICAM WHEELS REMOTE HANDHELD ZEEGEE CAMWOK
Lessons are designed for newbies, seasoned pros, and everyone in between. Each lesson is tailored to your needs and as a result no two lessons are the same.

All lessons are given in two hour increments but full day courses are available for established operators. While lessons are for one person only there may be other individuals who are there (with your permission) as it helps to have people to use as actors and this allows others to learn by listening and watching. It goes without saying that 100% of my attention is devoted to the student taking the lesson.
Just Getting Started
Designed for people who may never have had a steadicam on before or have tried one on but really don’t know if this is something they would like to consider further. We will quickly go over the concepts of balancing and building the rig but the majority of our time will be spent with you moving around with the steadicam as I offer tips and instruction, so that you can better understand what being a steadicam operator is and what it takes physically to do the job. Note that you will not walk out of this kind of instruction knowing how to operate but rather understanding if this is what you would like to pursue further and with a rudimentary idea of how to operate and what it is going to take.
Taking It Up A Notch
Designed for those who have an idea of how to operate, have had some experience but either don’t know proper technique or want to learn proper technique and are in many ways newbies who want to start off on the right foot. We will spend some time talking about rig build and learning how to balance and then work on exercises and shots designed to teach you proper technique and get your body accustomed to wearing the rig. As with any lessons, these classes can vary based on your experience and what you are hoping to gain from the lesson.
Honing Your Skills
Designed for the working operator, we will spend time working on whatever aspect of the craft you are finding needs help. Whip pans, slow moves, landing frames, you name it and we will work on it. These classes are designed for someone who already knows how to operate but simply wants to move past a hurdle they are experiencing and can completely vary with the operators skill level and needs. We will discuss your goals ahead of time and then spend the lesson zeroing in on where you are and what it will take to get you where you want to be.
It takes years of practice to become a highly skilled operator and no one taking these classes should expect to walk away ready to create amazing shots but rather with the tools required to move forward. Frustration can be part of the game so be forewarned, this takes time and practice to master and patience and putting in the time is key. I am happy to guide you and offer advice and techniques but at the end of the day it will be on you to put in the work.

Equipment - If you have your own steadicam I suggest that we use your rig. More importantly, if you own your own vest, let me know as it is always best to use a vest that has been fitted to your body. If you don't own a vest and/or rig, I am happy to teach you using my Artemis rig, PRO arm and front mount 3A vest. We will not be using any kind of Wave or Volt system because I am a firm believer that operating is operating and these are just devices that make the job easier but if you have your own let me know and we can talk.

Additional Instruction Available - Wheels, Handheld, Concepts of Conventional Operating (generally requires extra time to schedule)
